PATHWAYS TO LEADERSHIP & ACTION
Our approach centers on creating sacred spaces that reflect the lived experiences of our diverse communities, fostering healing, and recognizing systemic barriers. By grounding our work in the knowledge and love of self and others, inspired by concepts like In Lak'ech and Ubuntu, we aim to cultivate environments where we can truly love our neighbors and communities.
We celebrate the power-building and victories of our ancestors through the lens of ethnic studies, uplifting hope and love as the foundation for true organizing.
PRAXIS OF CHANGE
Theory.
Action.
Reflection.
The theory-action-reflection model, known as praxis, is a cornerstone of ethnic studies' theory of change.

OUR PILLARS
ENGAGE
Our program is grounded in an ethnic studies centering indigenous values and community-based principles of environmental justice. We lead learners through a process of building a connection to the land, evaluating their relationship with the environment and examining the values systems that cause climate impacts in our communities.

EXPLORE
Our youth leaders participate in hands-on learning and community science activities focused on areas of eco-healing, adaptation and sustainability. They conduct participatory research, collect data and analyze information to address air, water, land, energy, and mobility amidst a climate crisis.
By uplifting their lived-experiences, our youth leaders are able to advocate and activate by developing projects and campaigns that impact their community.

EMPOWER
As empowered organizers, our youth leaders identify problems, plans and actions to tackle inequitable systems affecting their schools and neighborhoods. Our youth leaders are building coalitions with peers & partners, developing strategic projects, and engaging with community leaders, public officials, and environmental actors to demand change and influence policy.

Our programs include a participatory approach that empowers youth leaders to use their voices to create personal narratives by reflecting on their lived experiences and connection to values. Our youth leaders become storytellers & advocates representing & elevating the needs of their community.
